About Volunteer Groups

Volunteers are often put into groups which can help you perform the following functions:

Communication
So the administrator can email or SMS text a specific group of volunteers without having to select them individually.

Reporting
There are standard reports which show the number of volunteers within each group.  You may also want a report specific to your trust which only looks at a particular group of volunteers.

Limiting an opportunity to a group of volunteers
When creating opportunities you can limit them to a particular group of volunteers, this does not mean that other volunteers can not see the opportunity but it does mean that they can not join it.

To create a group you must follow the steps below:

1.    Go to the VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT > VOLUNTEER GROUPS screen.
2.    Enter the name of your new group in the ‘Group Name’ box and click on the ADD NEW GROUP button.

To add volunteers to a group you must follow the steps below:

1.    Go to VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT > FIND VOLUNTEERS
2.    Select the volunteers you want to add to the group by clicking on the check boxes on the right of the screen.
3.    Select the group from the dropdown box at the bottom of the screen, and click on the MOVE SELECTED VOLUNTEERS TO button.
