If you would like to ask volunteers additional questions as part of the registration process, you can create a CUSTOM REGISTRATION FIELD.  To do this you will need to go to SETTINGS > CUSTOM REGISTRATION FIELDS.

Note: Beware the more questions you ask the less likely users are going to complete the form, so make sure that they are all absolutely necessary and not ‘it would be nice to know’ questions.

In the NEW CUSTOM FIELD box you will need to select the type of answer you expect the volunteer to give:

Examples

Free Text – What is your pets name?

Number – What is your student number?

Yes/No – Are you a student?

Dropdown List – Select your department?  (the user can choose only one option from a predefined list)

Selection List – Are you a member of the following organisations (the user can choose multiple options from a predefined list)

If you have chosen either DROPDOWN LIST or SELECTION LIST you will be required to enter the predefined list seporated with commas.

If you select the FREE TEXT field then you will be asked how many lines you want to be displayed, so if you are expecting the user to enter a more than 3 words you may want to show the information on two lines.  The best way to guage this is to take a look at the registration screen and try entering some finctional answers.

Last of all you need to define whether the field is mandatory or not, if it is mandatory then the volunteers will be required to enter it in order to complete the registration.
