Inducting a volunteer

Inductions give the administrator a chance to understand and record a clearer picture of what the person aims to get out of volunteering, whilst allowing them to explain to the volunteer what is expected of them whilst on an opportunity.  It also offers a chance to record and complete any relevant DBS information if required.

The creator of an opportunity has the chance to define whether volunteers need to have attended an induction.

The steps below describe how to induct a volunteer onto the system:

Arrange an Induction

1.   Find the volunteer by going to VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT > FIND VOLUNTEERS, and searching for the volunteer
2.   Click on the Book Induction icon next to the relevant volunteer.
3.   Enter in the time, date and location where the induction is to take place. And click the send induction slot button.

Note: If your organisation has purchased SMS text messages (and the induction reminder option is set to ON) the volunteer will receive an SMS text reminder and an email of the induction details the day before the induction takes place, alternatively they will just receive an email.
