Text messages do have an extra associated cost which you must pay in advance in order to send text messages, so there is no chance of overspending or getting a large bill. They are however extremely effective at getting the volunteers attention, much more so than emails.

Usually organisations choose to only send manual SMS text messages to start with, but once they are comfortable with using TeamKinetic they then start using the automated SMS texts.

There are four scenarios which you can automate to send SMS text messages to your volunteers:
1.   when an opportunity is first authorised
2.   when a volunteer registers
3.   the day before a volunteer is due to attend a session
4.   when an induction appointment is made

If you are interested in improving attendance then we recommend turning on option (3), or if you are more interested in welcoming volunteers onto the system then option (2) may be for you.
